Most of us stress about the future, not laugh about it. We wonder what could go wrong, what might not work out, or if we’re making the right choices. Fear sneaks in through uncertainty, and before we know it, we’re stuck in a cycle of anxiety over things we can’t control.
Proverbs 31:25 gives us a completely different picture:
“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”
What a picture of freedom. What a picture of trust.
💜 Why She Laughs
This woman isn’t carefree because her life is perfect.
She laughs because her confidence is in God and not her own strength.
Jesus said in Matthew 18:3,
“Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Think about that. Children don’t spend their days worrying about bills, outcomes, or health. They simply trust. They laugh easily. They live in the present.
That’s what it means to laugh at the future; to live from a place of childlike faith, confident that our Father is good and that He’s already working in what we can’t yet see.
🌿 A Moment of Uncertainty
There was a season when my future felt so uncertain. I was preparing to move to another state, away from everything familiar — my family, my friends, my community. It was scary. I kept asking myself, Is this the right move? Am I doing the right thing?
Then one morning, God whispered to my heart:
“You don’t have to know the outcome. You just have to know Me.”
That truth shifted everything.
Nothing around me changed right away, but everything inside me did. Peace replaced fear. I could breathe again. And from that peace came joy...the kind that allowed me to smile and even laugh at what was ahead, because I knew I wasn’t facing it alone.
✨ Choosing Joy Over Fear
Laughing at the future doesn’t mean ignoring the unknown. It means trusting that even when you don’t know what’s coming, God is with you and that's what matters.
When you clothe yourself in His strength and dignity, fear loses its power. You can move forward with peace because you know your Father is faithful, not because everything is certain.
Romans 8:28 reminds us,
“We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.”
Even if things don’t go as planned, He can turn them for your good.
🕊️ This Week’s Reflection
Take a moment to reflect on this:
What area of your future feels most uncertain right now?
What truth from Scripture reminds you of God’s faithfulness?
Write them side by side — your fear on one side, and His truth on the other.
Every time worry rises up, replace it with His promise. And if it’s hard to believe it right now, that’s okay. Ask God to help you trust — He always will.
