In Her Image: 31-Day Devotional Journey through Proverbs 31

A Journey Through Proverbs 31

For those of you who have followed me for years, you know I’ve always been passionate about the wisdom found within the book of Proverbs. I turn to it often—whether I’m in need of guidance, peace, or simply a reminder of God’s principles for living a life of purpose. Over time, Proverbs 31, specifically, has captured my heart as I’ve studied the character traits of the Proverbs 31 woman. Her integrity, strength, wisdom, and commitment to her family have always inspired me.

For years, I’ve wanted to write a devotional based on the attributes of this powerful woman. I’ve led in-depth Bible studies, shared teachings with women, and explored the profound lessons that Proverbs 31 has to offer. But it wasn't until recently, during my quiet moments of reflection and dedication to the Word, that I began to feel a deep sense of urgency to finally bring this vision to life.

For the past few weeks, I’ve set aside time each day to dive into writing this devotional, and I’m thrilled to share that the rough draft for the 31 days is now complete. I’ve fine-tuned 15 of those days, with the goal of wrapping up the remaining content soon. I truly believe this devotional will not only inspire but also challenge women to live out their God-given identity, grounded in His wisdom and the timeless truths in Proverbs 31.

Why Now?

My heart behind this project is simple: I want to create a tool that helps women uncover their God-given identity, discover their purpose, and step fully into the roles God has called them to—whether that’s as mothers, daughters, wives, or single women navigating their journey. So often, we are bombarded by cultural standards of what it means to be a woman, but Proverbs 31 gives us a clear picture of the power, grace, and strength that is found in living out our true identity in Christ.

With December around the corner, my hope is to publish this devotional in time for a special 31-day group devotional starting January 1. This will be a wonderful way for women to come together, reflect on the wisdom of Proverbs 31, and set the tone for a year of growth, purpose, and fulfillment. If you’ve followed me for a while, you know how much I value community and shared growth, so I’m beyond excited to invite you to join me on this journey.

What to Expect

For now, I’d like to share a glimpse of what’s to come. Below is the (draft) introduction to the book, which will give you a taste of the themes and structure that will be woven throughout. As you read through it, my hope is that you’ll be inspired to live out your true calling in her image—drawing strength, wisdom, and purpose from Proverbs 31, and living in full alignment with God’s design for your life.

If this introduction speaks to you, I’d be honored for you to join me for the 31-day devotional group in January, if we can get the book published on time. We’ll be diving deep into the character of the Proverbs 31 woman, exploring her strengths and how we can embody those same qualities in our everyday lives.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. I truly can’t wait to share more with you and walk alongside you in 2024.

Draft Intro of In Her Image

Get an ide of what to expect

In a world that often pressures women to conform to standards of beauty, success, and societal expectations, it’s easy to lose sight of the truth that our identity is rooted in something far deeper. As explored in In His Image, our true identity is found in the image of God. We were created to reflect His character and fulfill His purposes. In Her Image builds on this foundation, specifically focusing on what it means to reflect God as a woman.

God’s design for women is not about comparison or conformity, but divine purpose. In In His Image, we discussed God’s core attributes—Love, Creator, Father, Light, and Judge—and how they define who He is and how they are reflected in our identity as His image-bearers. In Her Image shifts our focus to the qualities God intended for women to embody, drawing from the wisdom of Proverbs 31, which beautifully illustrates the traits of a woman whose life reflects God's heart.

Each section of this reading journey explores a characteristic from Proverbs 31, tying it to one of the five key attributes of God. These attributes are the lens through which we’ll examine what it means to live as women made in God’s image. By reflecting on these qualities, we’ll see how they shape our identity, deepen our relationships, and guide our actions.

The purpose of this study is to help you embrace your God-given design. As you reflect on the daily insights, you’ll discover how God’s attributes are not just abstract ideas, but are lived out practically through the lives of women who choose to reflect Him. The Proverbs 31 woman is a beautiful example, but so are you.

This journey will empower you to see the qualities in yourself that reflect God’s heart and inspire you to live them out every day.

This isn’t about striving for perfection or comparing yourself to others. It’s about fully embracing who you are as a woman made in God’s image and using the qualities He has given you to make a difference. Each characteristic you’ll encounter is a reflection of God’s heart—whether His strength, His love, His wisdom, or His justice—and serves as a reminder that you were created to reflect these traits in everything you do.

As you move through each day, I encourage you to reflect on how these attributes of God manifest in your own life. Consider how you can live out these qualities in your relationships, in your work, and in your daily interactions with others. What does it look like to love as God loves? How can you reflect His wisdom in your decisions? How does His light shine through you in moments of uncertainty? Every day offers you the opportunity to deepen your understanding of God’s design for you and apply these attributes in practical ways.

Incorporating these reflections into your life is about transformation. The goal is not perfection, but rather living out your identity as a woman made in His image, reflecting His attributes in your words, actions, and thoughts. As you reflect on each day’s message, take the time to pray, reflect, and think about how these traits are already present in your life or how you might cultivate them.

This journey is both encouraging and challenging. Some days, you’ll feel deeply connected to the qualities discussed, while other days you may notice areas where growth is needed. Both responses are part of the journey. God created you uniquely—with strengths, struggles, and everything in between. This is an invitation to explore how your identity as an image-bearer empowers you to live authentically and fully, embracing all that God has designed for you.

Each characteristic will highlight a specific trait from Proverbs 31 and tie it to one of the five attributes of God:

  • Love: The Proverbs 31 woman’s love reflects God’s unconditional, sacrificial love. She loves deeply, cares for her family, and demonstrates kindness to those in need, all rooted in love.
  • Creator: As women made in God’s image, we reflect His creativity. The Proverbs 31 woman is resourceful and diligent, using her talents to build and provide for her family, mirroring God’s creative nature.
  • Father: The qualities of provision, care, and protection associated with a father are mirrored in the Proverbs 31 woman. She is vigilant in her duties, safeguarding her family with a steady presence.
  • Light: Like God’s light, which illuminates and brings clarity, the Proverbs 31 woman’s wisdom offers guidance to those around her, shedding light on truth and leading others with understanding.
  • Judge: The Proverbs 31 woman exercises discernment and fairness in her actions. She advocates for justice, ensuring that righteousness prevails in her home and community, reflecting the role of God as Judge.

This is not just a reflection on the attributes of the Proverbs 31 woman. It’s a call to explore how we can embody these attributes in our own lives. Whether you’re a mother, a daughter, a sister, or a friend, these qualities apply to all of us. This journey will challenge and encourage you to grow in each of these areas and live with purpose, love, and strength.

As you continue through this study, remember that it’s about embracing who you are. Recognize that you are equipped with strength, love, wisdom, and creativity to reflect God’s image in the world. This is not a call to do more but to be more—more connected to your true identity and more committed to reflecting His love and purpose through your life.

I encourage you to take your time with each section. Let the reflections challenge and inspire you. Allow God to reveal new insights about His design for you, empowering you to walk in your full potential. Every day is an opportunity to grow in your understanding of God’s heart for women and to step into the fullness of your identity as a woman made in His image.
