Identity First: Who God Says You Are

It’s such a simple question, but it shapes everything about how we live, love, and lead. The truth is, so many of us are walking around carrying labels that were never meant to define us. Some of them were spoken over us years ago. Others were formed in quiet moments of comparison, disappointment, or failure.

I’ve carried those labels too—“not enough,” “too much,” “unqualified.” But the problem with false labels is that they speak louder than truth when we let them.

That’s why, before we talk about purpose or strength or legacy, we have to start with identity.

In Genesis 1, we read that God created mankind in His image. Before you ever accomplished a single thing, God stamped His image on you. That means your truest identity was established before you even took your first breath.

The Proverbs 31 woman reflects that truth. She’s not powerful because she performs perfectly—she’s powerful because she’s living out who God already created her to be.

I’ve learned that identity comes before action.
Who you are matters more than what you do.

And that truth became real for me during one of the hardest seasons of my life. Everything felt like it was shaking—my roles were shifting, my confidence was low, and I felt completely lost. In the middle of that, I heard God whisper:

“Andrea, you are Mine. Your value doesn’t come from performance or titles. It comes from Me.”

Put them somewhere you’ll see them daily—your bathroom mirror, phone background, or journal—and speak them out loud until they become your default truth.

✨ You are made with intention.
